King Pacific Lodge, A Rosewood Resort, BC: 1999 – 2013

Spectacular Ink was engaged in 1999 to handle the ongoing PR for this luxury, floating wilderness resort. Our brief was to balance its appeal as a wilderness resort, where the rare Kermode bear, humpback and killer whales, wolves and black bears draw guests from the world over, with its reputation as a first-class fly-fishing and saltwater fishing destination. Stories on sustainability, wilderness protection, culinary excellence and partnerships with the indigenous people have been at the forefront of the media outreach. We have set up interviews for the Company’s president with opinion leaders in national media and provincial government, nominated the Lodge for environmental awards for its far-reaching efforts in carbon reduction, and worked with film crews to capture the compelling images of the world-renown Great Bear Rainforest.

Results from the last three years include features in Robb Report, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel and Leisure, Coastal Living, Ottawa Citizen,, Vancouver Sun, The Globe & Mail, Elle, New Zealand Herald,, Private Air, Global TV, CityTV, Pacific Yachting.

Rockwater Secret Cove Resort
, Sunshine Coast, BC: 2006 – 2011

In 2006 Spectacular Ink was engaged to handle the introduction of the new Tenthouse Suites at this BC coastal resort. Coinciding with the trend for ‘glamping’, the tents oozed romance and we focused on the ‘sexiness’ of the luxury tents, yet featured the environmental considerations that went in to the design, and the oneness with nature that guests feel when canvas is all that separates you from the wilderness. Surrounded by a marine park and focusing only on self-propelled adventures, Rockwater has caught the attention of numerous news and feature outlets. Its Spa Without Walls was featured in Healing Lifestyles & Spas in 2009.

Tourism Richmond, BC: 1998 – 2010

Tourism Richmond appointed Spectacular Ink to build awareness for the city as a gateway to British Columbia ten years ago. During the last decade Richmond has grown in stature, becoming a major attraction as the second largest Chinatown in North America, an Olympic venue city for the 2010 Winter Olympics, and was recently accredited as an official Destination Marketing Organization. Our agency has also been tasked to build Richmond’s reputation as a centre for Asian dining. In 2007 we created a partnership between Tourism Richmond and two major sponsors, The Vancouver Sun and Channel M (an ethnic TV station), to promote the first annual Tourism Richmond Asian Dining Guide, with a consumer contest called ‘Eat Your Way to China’. This guide was launched via TV and newspaper coverage, distributed throughout Metro Vancouver and Richmond, increased consumer visits to the participating restaurants, and was an unqualified successful in raising awareness for the City’s rich Asian dining scene.

We also nominated Richmond as host city for the annual convention of the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC). Richmond was subsequently appointed TMAC host city for 2009.
