50 MILLION SWISS FRANCS UPGRADE BRINGS MORE WELLBEING TO BADRUTT’S PALACE HOTEL

ST. MORITZ, June, 2009 – The first section of Badrutt’s Palace Hotel’s spa is back in use as from August 2009 after renovations. The Wet Zone offers guests an ice room and mist room. In addition there are two saunas of different temperatures and a tropical rainforest shower to entice guests. The renovated wellness area promises relaxation for mind, body and soul, as does the centrepiece, the oval pool, which underwent renovation in the summer of 2008.

In overall charge of the wellness area’s renovation is Wellness Advisor Martha Wiedemann. “It is important to me that the beautiful surroundings of the Engadine valley flow into every part of the wellness area. Plenty of natural light and local building materials characterise the look of the renovation,” says Martha Wiedemann. In this vein the hotel has returned to using white spruce, a local Grisons evergreen, for the wood panelling. The granite used originates from the quarry on the San Bernadino Pass located not far from St. Moritz.

During the summer season massages, fitness, changing rooms and the Kids’ Club are offered in alternative spaces, just until the wellness renovation work is complete for the opening of the 2009 winter season. The outdoor and indoor pools plus the tennis courts can be used by guests throughout the summer.

The renovation of the wellness area is part of a three-stage renovation plan for Badrutt’s Palace Hotel from 2008 to 2010 with a total investment sum of almost 50 million Swiss Francs.

Badrutt's Palace Hotel is a celebration of style, sports, cuisine and fashion, with discreet service and traditional elegance evoking an atmosphere of pampered luxury for all.
