The ten participating teams, experts on the seven seas, navigate the 1.6 km long and 0.6 km wide St. Moritz Lake. This demands excellent technical skill and speedy manoeuvrings from each crew, and provides onlookers with great spectator sport 6,000 feet above sea level. The additional challenge of the Maloja, a thermal wind that blows across the Engadine around midday, usually guarantees quality racing and a unique spectacle.
