A TALE OF TWO ISLANDS: ESCAPE TO SALT SPRING ISLAND AND VANCOUVER ISLAND

Salt Spring Island, BC, March 30, 2015: Hedgerow House, A Gulf Island Inn, has teamed up with Villa Marco Polo in Victoria’s toney Rocklandquarter, to create the ‘crème de la crème’ of B&B experiences. Feast on local wines and cheeses upon arrival at Hedgerow House; while at Villa Marco Polo a free upgrade to the deluxe king room, artisan chocolates, and a small bottle of its signature bubbly await.

An urban oasis, Hedgerow House sits on three-quarters of an acre of landscaped gardens with secluded porches and patios ideal for reading or daydreaming. Some guests opt for a riotous game of ‘boules’ on the lawn after dinner. A ten-minute walk to Ganges takes visitors to the legendary Saturday market and the waterfront, as well as galleries, restaurants and chic boutiques.

Villa Marco Polo offers luxury digs in a home that was once a gift to a bride. From its elegant turn of the century architecture and Italianate garden to the treasury of antiques and fine art, each room is exquisitely decorated with Silk Roadflair. Within a short walk of Victoria Harbour, yet with Craigdarroch Castle and the gardens of Government House on its doorstep, Villa Marco Polo is close to the bustle of Victoria, yet tucked secretly away.

Salt Spring Island, known for its artisans, its market and its bucolic landscapes dotted with sheep, is a perfect getaway for recharging body and soul. Whether strolling beaches, getting lost in the rainforest or climbing a mountain, visitors can challenge themselves or slip into island time. Once in Victoria, the pace picks up with museums, galleries and shops to explore, as well as dozens of award-winning restaurants and farmers’ markets to sample.

The Tale of Two Islands package features two nights at Hedgerow House and two nights at Villa Marco Polo from $299 CAD (US $239) per person. Rates vary with the seasons. A 30-minute ferry connects the two islands, and for those arriving on foot or by bike, the bus ride into Victoria takes 30 minutes.

Visitors who prefer to fly into Salt Spring and out of Victoria can opt to add two floatplane flights to the package from $559 CAD (US $447) per person.
