DIVE THE SUNSHINE COAST WITH ROCKWATER SECRET COVE RESORT

HALFMOON BAY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA: The view from the shore may be stunning and the kayaking may be world class, but any diver who visits the Sunshine Coast will know that the best views are located under the surface. Located on the Sunshine Coast, home to what’s arguably known as the best coldwater diving in the world, Rockwater Secret Cove Resort is offering experienced and new divers alike the chance to combine a luxury stay at Rockwater with a day of exploring the undersea world of the Pacific. Partnered with Suncoast Diving, the Sunshine Coast’s only National Geographic certified dive centre, Rockwater guests can spend their days exploring the depths of the ocean, and their nights relaxing in the comfortable amenities at the resort.

The waters off the Sunshine Coast are a haven of geologic features and home to some unique Pacific marine species such as wolf eels, giant pacific octopus, seals, sea lions and many colorful invertebrates. With a variety of sheltered coves, shore dives, and wrecks to explore there is always a choice of unique dive sites available for all levels, in all weather. Visibility can be very clear, sometimes approaching 100 feet. When the tides allow, advanced divers can get “drifted” in the Skookumchuk Narrows, where the tidal exchange (2nd fastest in the world) creates amazing drift dive conditions, as well as super sized marine life resulting from the nutrients in the water. Another favorite dive for advanced divers is the HMCS Chaudière Artificial Reef Site, where a 370-foot naval destroyer was sunk in 50ft-140ft of water. This exciting, large-scale wreck dive is home to various marine creatures, so it’s no wonder that the Chaudiere is the #1 dive charter request on the Sunshine Coast.

The Rockwater Dive Package, which is year round, starts at $150 CAD per person for one night (based on double occupancy in an Oceanview room), which includes one boat diving charter trip, two tanks, and weights. Add on a second day of diving and a second night for $140 CAD. If you prefer to travel light, Suncoast Diving can rent you everything you need to do your own shore diving, please call for details.

For non-certified guests yearning for a taste of the underwater world, Suncoast Diving offers a one-day Discover Scuba Diving package. Perfect for those who want to experience the thrill of diving without undergoing a full certification program, this package includes all the gear and instruction needed to embark on two dives right in the ocean. You can experience a day of underwater exploration (including two dives, all instruction and all gear) along with a relaxing overnight in an Oceanview room, starting at $200 CAD per person (based on double occupancy). Upgrades to the luxury Tenthouse suites are also available.
